Privacy Policy
What Camp Longer collects, why, and how to get it removed. Short version: analytics, affiliate click data, and anything you send us directly.

This policy covers camplonger.com. It explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how to get it removed. If anything here is unclear, ask us.
The short version
We don’t sell your data. We don’t run ads. We make money when you buy gear through our affiliate links, and that tracking happens on the retailer’s side, not ours.
What we collect
Things you send us. If you use the contact form, we get your name, email address and message. We use them to reply to you and nothing else. We don’t add you to a mailing list.
Analytics. We collect aggregate data about which pages get read — page views, referring site, rough geographic region, browser and device type. It’s used to work out which guides are worth updating. It isn’t tied to your name.
Affiliate click data. When you follow a link to Amazon or another retailer, that retailer sets a cookie recording that you arrived from us, so any purchase is credited to this site. We never see your order, your payment details, or your address — only an aggregate count of purchases and commission.
Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. These rotate out on the host’s normal schedule.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We don’t run advertising networks or behavioural ad profiling on this site.
- We don’t ask you to create an account, because there’s nothing here to log in to.
- We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or profiling cookies of its own. Cookies you may encounter:
- Analytics cookies, to tell repeat visits from new ones in aggregate.
- Affiliate cookies, set by Amazon and other retailers after you click through to them. These are governed by that retailer’s privacy policy, not this one.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works fine without them.
Amazon Associates
Camp Longer is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. See our disclaimer for the full statement.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you,
- correct it if it’s wrong,
- delete it,
- stop using it.
If you’re in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you those rights explicitly, plus the right to data portability and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you’re in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what’s collected and to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for asking.
To exercise any of these, contact us. We’ll respond within 30 days. Realistically, the only personal data we’re likely to hold is a contact-form message you sent us.
Third parties
Two categories of third party may process data connected to your visit:
- Our hosting and analytics providers, who process requests and page-view data on our behalf.
- Retailers you click through to, such as Amazon, who operate under their own privacy policies once you land on their site.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
